after our hawaii vacation back in may, we flew east for a fun rendezvous in nyc. it was my first visit back since college and long overdue! we gallivanted all around the city with our good friends janelle, her fiance kyle, alex, and her bf grant! looking through these photos makes me want to get back to new york asap. i’ve got a whole lotta love for that city and it seems to grow with every visit. i’m hoping we’ll be back soon! some highlights from the trip:
+ no. 1 has to be janelle and kyle getting engaged the last night of our trip!! these two have been good pals of mine since 9th grade and have been dating for almost 9 years and i am so very excited for them.
+ coffee, coffee, coffee. reis and i made it our personal mission to hit up as many coffee shops as we could in the 4 days we were there. we went to happy bones, la colombe, gasoline alley, blue bottle, and toby’s estate. we think happy bones was our favorite (and we scored because it was a 2 minute walk from our airbnb!).
+ speaking of our airbnb, it was pretty awesome. it was a loft apartment located in soho/nolita and the perfect walking distance from shops and good eats. plus our host was so nice and super accommodating with us getting in at 6 am!
+ shooting alex and grant’s apartment (see more here)! it’s so fun hanging out with locals in a such a big city. they know all the good spots (i.e. a thrift shop with a million pairs of $5 levi’s 501 cutoffs) and are masters at getting around the subway :)
+ walking across the williamsburg bridge to brooklyn was pretty cool. our whole day in brooklyn was one of my favorites. good shopping, good people, and good pizza at roberta’s. if this was instagram, i’d probably insert some thumbs up emojis.
+ so many eateries!! the decor, the branding, oh and the food..it’s all pretty amazing. i’d head over to janelle’s blog cause we ate at most of the same places and she is a way better foodie than me. if we had to pick favorites, i think reis and my favorite dinner would probably be rubirosa, an incredible italian restaurant in nolita! thanks alex for your rec!
+ an afternoon stroll through central park.
+ deciding that the shake shack in madison square park wasn’t worth the 1 hour wait, so instead we hit up the one in grand central and had our shakes in about 10 minutes :) which, btw, were really delicious.
and that concludes nyc 2014! i heart you, NY.
